Since 2008, I have been a member of the Chicago indie-pop band known as My My My.
Starting out as lead guitarist, I have now turned into the keys/synth player in the band, and often carry the largest amount of gear!
My arsenal these days includes:
Boss Dr. Rhythm
Dave Smith Mopho via an Alesis Vortex keytar controller
Amplification: Music Man HD130 head into a Leslie G27 or Epifani Bass Cab.
In the studio, I’ve also used keyboards such as a Prophet V, Roland Juno-6, Moog Voyager, Hammond A100, Wurlitzer Electric Piano, and various Casios, stylophones, and softsynths including the M-Tron.
I have been an active member on three albums so far: “Wishing You Whatever’s Best” (2011), “Leather Silk” (2010) and “Little Cat Plays The Alpha Rave” (2008). We currently are working on a potential new album release in 2014.
Live – we have been fortunate enough to play a wide assortment of places in Chicago, most notably the Elbo Room, Metro, Subterranean, Beat Kitchen, Schuba’s and at the Taste Of Chicago. We have also performed shows in San Francisco, Los Angeles, New York City, Brooklyn, Cincinnati, Minneapolis, Milwaukee, twice in Toronto for the NXNE festival, and twice in Park City, Utah for the Sundance Film Festival.
Here’s one of our songs – “Hard Kisses”.
In addition, I have been the lead guitarist for the cover band Sidecar, which performs throughout the Chicago area. We have performed in many bars and summer festivals, and in April 2012 we were a featured band for the Easter Seals Telethon in Joliet, IL.
My main gear in this band is a white Gibson SG 60’s Tribute or a red Epiphone Casino with Bigsby through a Fender Deluxe Reverb. Various pedals are used, including a Boss/Analogman Overdrive, Zvex Fuzz Factory, Guyatone Chorus, MXR Phase 90, MXR Dyna Comp and a Vox Wah.
Past bands and musical projects I’ve been involved with include Ed, Alter Egos, Mel & The One Night Stands, Four Card Stud, Margo Jean & The Rubes, Who’s On Top, Group Dynamic and J Squared & The Mental Floss Group.
